BONNIE TAUB-DIX, MA,RD,CDN is a past spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association and Director and Owner of BTD Nutrition Consultants, with offices on Long Island and in New York City. She is a specialist in behavior and lifestyle modification, medical nutrition therapy, and obesity and weight management.
Ms. Taub-Dix is a regular guest on national television and radio programs and in the press, providing practical advice on healthy living to publications such as the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, and WebMD and shows including CNN, CBS Early Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, FOX 5 News, and The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. She’s worked with the Discovery Channel and Lifetime TV as an on-air consultant for several nationally broadcast shows. As a consultant to the Cartoon Network, she collaborated on designing a program for the Food and Drug Administration regarding food labeling for children. As a liaison between industry and the public, she holds a position on the editorial advisory boards of Family Circle Magazine and Environmental Nutrition Newsletter. In 2003, she was named Outstanding Nutrition Entrepreneur of the Year by the American Dietetic Association, and the following year she received the New York State Dietetic Association’s Media Excellence Award.
As Director of BTD Nutrition Consultants for over three decades, Taub-Dix counsels individuals (including many celebrities) and groups. She is an advisor to major corporations, law firms, and fitness clubs, setting up wellness programs and conducting seminars. With a great passion for and understanding of food science, she displays her creativity in modifying recipes and designing menus for restaurants and is the coauthor of Kosher By Design Lightens Up (ArtScroll, 2008), a book that blends the science of nutrition and tradition of home cooking. She writes a regular column for the Kosher.com website.
Taub-Dix is a prolific writer on issues related to nutrition for both popular and professional publications. She writes a weekly blog for USA Today and is a regular contributor to MSNBC.com. For two and a half years, she wrote a column called “Fitness Prescription” for Newsday, and her articles and interviews have also appeared in Life, Health, Vogue, Shape, Fitness, Reader’s Digest, Weight Watchers, Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food, Ladies’ Home Journal, Prevention, Women’s Day, and Men’s Health, just to name a few. She was a consultant to books including Nutrition for Dummies, Cholesterol for Dummies, and The Only 127 Things You Need, and she has written chapters for textbooks, including Weight Management: A Practical Guide (American Dietetic Association), The Entrepreneurial Nutritionist (Helm Press), and Nutrition Concerns of Women (CRC Press).
Taub-Dix has played a prominent role in health-related organizations, serving as a board or committee member for the Nutrition Committee of the American Heart Association and the Governor’s Council on Osteoporosis. Taub-Dix received her BS in Clinical and Community Dietetics from Downstate Medical Center and her MA in Nutrition from New York University. She lives on Long Island with her husband and three sons.
